Now that we have hours of footage i think we're going to do a full edit with the 3 different performance styles on seperate video tracks. Then we can easily pick and choose which shots we like and begin to finish our edit. Always better to have more footage than needed than less footage i think!

Test shoot good things
Some good things from the test shoot we should try to recreate next weekend:
First shot - have the shot quite close in to begin with (MCU) and keep it in the corner. Possibly have this shot as a high angle as well to connote the vunerability of the character
Master Shot (performance) - lower angle and tighter framing. In the test we liked how close the lights appeared in the shot. We also like the way I move in really close to the camera and have my eyes filling up quite a lot of the frame.
Liam on knees - We liked it alot when i went on my knees and still adressed the camera in a distressed way. We think we should shoot this seperately in order to focus on it and get it just right!
Low level (camera on floor) - place the camera slightly higher, on a book or something, so that when i bend down my eyes are near the centre of the frame

meeting: 22/9/08
group meeting today:
after looking at the captured footage today. it is apparent that we need to sort out a few things in the editing suite as a group.
- we should do a complete edit of the footage we have and see what we have and what we still need.
- we should look at what gestures and action codes liam did so well on the test shoot, and make sur we put these on the reshoot list for next weekends shoot!
i expect to see you all 2moro in the media block!

Nightvision effect and more
So lads, i know that Liam had a good idea about shooting in nightvision and cuttin itop it or in between. I've been playing in Afeter FX again and think we could do it in post possibly. I've also done some colouisation effects to some more footage from prison break. It can make it look more cinematic, and possibly more proffessional. Have a look at my blog, and see what you think of it. It's definitely worth experimenting with some of them with our footage in my opinion.

Flash Effects for the Video.
So guys as we want to create white flashes etc in the video, i have done some research and played around with After Effects. We could do a number of effects that would look good. I've uploaded a video to my blog testing them with some footage from prison break. Have a look and comment on the ones you like.

New title for group -LXIX
Shooting wnet really well on thursday and during the filming myself and Liam discussed the possiblility of renaming the artist from HRH to LXIX (69 in roman numerals). This idea came from one of the tattoos that we drew upon Liam. Not only is it quite a risque title, but also its quite clever due to the fact it isn't obvious. please comment with any ideas

BLK feedback
Mike i like this idea, the tattoos will work well for shock value as much as anything.
Liam good idea on smashing things up and the inner turmoil thing, how do you get hold of the sugar glass though? let me know if you need help with that.
have just thought - we MAY have an old tv you could smash up. what do you think??
max i think the room will work really well, the more blank the canvas is the better, i reckon.
matt i didn't get a chance to hear those shot ideas you had - make sure you run them by me before you head off on thursday
btw i think you need to shave some lines in one of liam's eyebrows (i was thinking of an eyebrow piercing so you're getting off lightly with shaving instead - angelie's idea) also i think you should get some shades - wrap arounds or similar for some of the shots - could add a bit of variety!
and . . i don't think you can get away without ANY boy kissing, soz but your audience will expect it. don't freak. it could be very abstract.
hope you all had a wicked day today - it was very quiet without you all
try and enjoy thursday, don't get too stressed (matt). liam the feedback on the test footage so far has been quite exceptional - your performance is considered to be utterly credible and very real, so whatever you're doing you're doing it EXACTLY how it should be done, so just go for it.
good luck on thursday everyone

Topless shots?
was thinking today that perhaps we should have at least one topless shot of Liam in video might work to show off some of the better tattoos as well as to go with the whole homoerotic theme. He could even rip off the t-shirt in one of his fits of rage (like when he's breaking stuff with the bat). please comment back as i'm curious to know what the rest of the group think?

Logo Ideas and thoughts on Graffiti in the video
This was my second idea, for the logo. The slightly more feminine colours brings out the slightly more homosexual aspects of the song and of the artist image. At the same time the black background makes the pink and red much bolder and eyecatching, while the red really connotes aggression.

Let's
Get a baseball bat and film me destorying coffee tables and hitting books and possibly even a car
We also thought we should get some sugar glass in the shape of a bottle and smash that as it would reflect the troubled mind of the main character aswell as showing his inner turmoil and violent tendancies.
Also we think we should make it look as if I am naked with really tight shots of my thighs and lower stomach.

Performance style:
In terms of personailty and visuals we want to add layers of meaning. ALso his insecurity, instability/ split personality as a character cries out for a mixture and dramatisation of emotions. I think this video really helps to show the performance style whihc i feel would really turn out project into a masterpiece :)
note:
- look at the excitement/ bouncing around the place
- look at how powerful he connotes his emotions through his pronounciation
- EYES!!
- action code of headbanging really works though i think it is overused in this video.
- the gritty progression of the main artist. -sweatiness, scruffiness-
- general abstract and awkward behaviour. -his self paranoia as well as aggression (looks almost drug induced)
- effect of static camera and use of fast tracks to the artist.

Logo
Was just mucking about on Paint Shop Pro and knocked up a quick band logo for HRH idea. Was wondering what everyone thought. The distorted font and the black on the white make it distinctive, whilst it is still pretty ambigious as to what HRH stands for and if they are actually a band, which would help create audience interest. Tell me what you think!

Style of Music Video
Yh i was thinking of the same sort of colour saturation and effects guys. Thinking that it may work well if we do a 'Sin City' style effect in our destaurated performance shots on Liams tshirt, if he is wearing red . It could connote themes of the song to the audience and the video of anger and his anxt/revenge.
Would also help differentiate it in style a bit more.

Weekend shoot
so guys about this weeekend...
- we are shooting at my house. Arrive at 10am to start shooting at 10.20ish.
- remember we will have to clear the room and get the right M/E/S for the test shoot so the earlier you arrive the quicker we can get this show on the road.
- remember to bring the equipment you are responsible of
- max bring those tatoo arms if you can
- keep your mobiles on etc. so we can communicate easily if there is a change of plan
- a note to all of us including myself: the less we mess around and try exciting shots and M/E/S on this test shoot weekend the more accurate our perception of the progress we need to take in preparation for the main shoot!!!

Style of music video
This video gave alot of inspiration in terms of style to me and matt and i wanted you guys to see what it looks like.
We like the way that the performance is in a more mellow style, almost black and white, compared to the brighter colours featured during parts of the narrative. Furthermore we like the performance of the singer in terms of his emotion and his interaction with the camera.

Tattoo Ideas On Designs
After our group discussion on Memeto as a source of inspiration I had a brief think on what kind of tattoo designs might be appropriate for our artist to help portray a certain image.
1) LXIX
Roman numerals for 69, obvious sexual connotations that would help go with the artists risky image and the explicit lyrics of the track
2)
A broken heart would help to go with the very distressed performance of the artist, and would look very eyecatching if it were on his lower arm. Also plays on the pun that the artist is wearing his heart on his sleeve.
3)
The tear would look striking, especially when paired with the artists eyeliner
4)
Sums up the stalker like fixation the artist is meant to have in the song

Possible Scenarios for the Final Idea
Here are a few possible ideas for suppossedly masculine activities:
1) Playing football in the park and a celebration is slightly too friendly/Drinking in pub watching a game (lads at the table the central protagonist eyeing up his 'friend')/Pub toilet of one his mates and the central protagonist are using the cubicles, when the main artist looks at his friend in a suggestive manner
2) If we are to imitate the video of the Kate Perry song, then perhaps it would be worth parodying the opening, where the camera focuses on various parts of Kate Perry's body (like a tilt up her legs). Instead we would focus on the male alternatives (biceps, six packs etc)
3) When Liam is singing in his room, around him his crew could be lifting weights aswell as doing other things such as hitting a punchbag, (slow motion)
4) 30seconds opening, central character gets message off girlfriend (via answerphoe/note on fridge that shes left him). He then smashes up the answerphone or framed photo in a CU Slow Motion shot. This would set up the angry tone to the video

Tattoos:
Going with the image of our artist i think our idea of tattooing will really work. Not only does this give the artist character and charisma outside of his music (i..e. what made him get this tatoo? what does it mean to him? does he follow a faith? etc.) Also it is highly generic to 'alternative rock'!!!! This would make our artist appear more tradiitional rock influenced as a pose to the mainstream tame artists (care about their image- feminine in this sense etc).
Tribal styles:
Large Back pieces:
(red dragon^)
We will have to discuss this at the next meeting, and also play around to see what looks best on the artist for example before/at the test shoot!

I Kissed A Boy
Yo check it out I’ve got a plan, here’s my intention
The frat boys in the club are lame, let’s start an altercation
It’s just what I’m used to, just want to fuck shit up
I’ve got my whole damn crew, come on what you gonna do
I kissed a boy and they liked it
Got all the honeys in the club excited
I kissed a boy just to start shit
That homeboy was not about it
I know it’s wrong, but I don’t mind
I’m gonna start shit tonight
I kissed a boy just to start shit
They just loved it
Now you don’t even know my name, it doesn’t matter
Don’t even front, you’ve got no game, you’re just a sucker
So what now, I clowned you, and I’m stealing your girl too
She wants a secure dude, and that’s just not you
I kissed a boy and they liked it
Got all the honeys in the club excited
I kissed a boy just to start shit
That homeboy was not about it
I know it’s wrong, but I don’t mind
I’m gonna start shit tonight
I kissed a boy just to start shit
They just loved it
Me and my bros that’s how we roll, you never know how far we’ll go
I’ll grab some chump that I don’t know
And plant one right on him
You’re only here for our amusement
I kissed a boy and they liked it
Got all the honeys in the club excited
I kissed a boy just to start shit
That homeboy was not about it
I know it’s wrong, but I don’t mind
I’m gonna start shit tonight
I kissed a boy just to start shit
They just loved it

IDEA FINAL
I Kissed A Boy - Cobra Starship
A copy of Katy Perry's song with several similar shots - i.e. Guys having a pillow fight (bedroom = master shot)
Have the guy as an obsessive psycho with revenge in mind - think of his look/image and the style of his bedroom
Action Plan
- think of scenarios
- timeline with song with lyrics - split into several sections
- start creating the image for the main guy
- do a music video analysis of Katy Perry - I Kissed a Girl and possibly use the structure
- revise representation of women/men and scopophilia and voyeurism

FOTC: Proposal
Flight of the Conchords- Inner city pressure (2008 album ‘Flight of the Conchords’)
-Further initial idea:
Breakdown of the song into a current music video:
-An old granny or an imposter old granny- similar to Basement Jaxx video…
- Walls closing in on the main character similar Train spotting?
- Idea that an old granny can’t cope with the expensive lifestyle that comes with living in the inner city. – For example she is in a terraced house and is rather small and dingy. She has spent all of her benefits and pension on buying a brand new motorised buggy which is completely pimped up- pink with tassels etc.
- ‘You pawned everything’…. Shots of handing over goods to a shop keeping: Granny brushes her tongue then hands over the toothbrush; jar with false teeth inside and splashes water over the counter; disposable camera sticky taped to a phone and she takes a picture of under her long old dress before handing it over. Hahahaha.
- ‘don’t know where your going’ – she crosses the road in a wheelchair/ motorised buggy and realises her false teeth are missing and does a U-turn
- ‘standing in the sitting room’ – knitting, ironing, trying to sit on ironing board which is too high,
- ‘Counting coins…’- she counts the coins in her purse and realises she is going to have to steal because she is skint. This is similar to an advert which I have seen …
… the shopkeeper starts to chase her with a French stick. - ‘underpants bit’- she can’t find any underpants in her drawer so she goes to the drawer below which is empty with only 1 pair!- a luminous thong or French knickers
- ‘Have you paid your rent yet’- starts to consider using those pants, implying prostitution.
- Chorus can be shots of her indoors looking out of the windows with the singers appearing as silhouettes through the window. –straight cuts
- ‘har-har-har-har-har’ – she is on her buggy down the street with passers by making eye contact and ‘har’ing’ and possibly pointing, then the last HARRR she stands up from her buggy like she is elevated from her chair-good angles needed etc.
- ‘So you think maybe you’ll be a prostitute…’- she is standing at the front door with an unattractive male at the door- she is trying to woo him.
- ‘Doesn’t measure up’- she is repulsive and they end up sitting on the floor or something.
- Synthesizers- shots of the artists playing their instruments and possibly the granny joining in with a kiddie’s keyboard on top of her ironing board.
- Last shots?
- Matt

5ive propsal
Liam/ Kieran:
In terms of this band member he appears to be the street casual normal guy.
Matthew/ Reece:
In terms of the band he can be the cheeky smiley one.
James/ Jamie/RJ:
As a band member he is the kind of surfer dude who lives the rural/coastal laid back lifestyle.
Michael/ Mikey:
And here is the poser of the band who is really trending and individual.
- Although these people appear to have and would appeal to different tastes it is very plausible that they are close friends and are a truely constructed band (not manufactured).

Move It Move It idea
- everyone wakes up, the wind styles one of the chartacters hair, whilst another takes the pillow off his head and he has a mohawk.
- one of the characters, wearing a pair of old fashioned pilot's goggles gets on a large bike, which miraculously turns into a small pink child's bike with stabilisers. This bike then fall apart as the guy is riding it, and he throws it over a wall in disgust.
- there is a paperboy cycling along with his bag of papers, he throws one of them, and one of the boyband runs up and catches it in his mouth like a dog (shot in slow-mo)
- one of the characters is dressed like a powerwalker(see left). He looks at his watch, which has been drawn on, and sees a unhappy face instead of a regular clockface. Then we see how slow he is walking, when an old granny overtakes him, followed by a person in a snail suit also crawling past him.
- A woman is being mugged, one of the band members sees this and takes out a can of spinnach. he eats it in a similar way to popeye and goes and beats up the mugger, saving the day for everyone.
- Two of the characters are in a car riding along side a milkfloat.the pasanger reaches across and steals a pint of milk. He then pours it into a box of crunchy nut and eats it
- As one of the characters runs past a church, gospel singers start singing and clapping along to the song
- We see a marathon running rnning along and then reaching for a cup of water placed on a table near the side of the road. He drinks some of the water and then pours the rest over himself to cool down. The band member is then running along and instead of reaching for the water like we expect, he reaches for a bucket of kfc and then pours it over himself.

Flight of the Conchord Ideas
Today we discussed the thought of doing a Flight of the Concords track and this one, Hiphopopotamus vs. Rhymenoceros.
The idea centred around of smartly dressed businessmen (grey suits, thick glasses, combovers, etc) being approached in an alleyway by a a group of thugs who are set out to mug them. After about 20 seconds of dialogue where the men are threatened, one if them would pull out a ghetto blaster out of their jacket (like a cartoon) and then the other one would press the button cueing the music to begin. After this we would then use a fish eye camera as we try to make a parody of stereotypical rap video. We would play on the lyrics of the song as well as destroying the usual stereotype of businessmen and how they should behave. This idea on reflection may not be suach a good idea after thinking of how it has several similarities with the original, but it has made us sure as a group that we want to focus on comedy.
